West Virginia Home Building Service Trip

I took a community service trip to West Virginia with my peers from Seton Hall Prep. There, I helped many people in need. My goal was to make a difference in an impoverished and malnourished community. I spoke with the people we were sent to help, and they expressed their sincerest gratitude. I happily spent countless hours completing house repairs and farm work to fulfill my service mission.

I am tending the cattle. The farmowner here was an 85-year-old woman who could barely walk. She lacked control over her cattle. I was happy to help her maintain the order of her livestock.

Every year, the asparagus roots need to be cut to allow growth in the spring. Yes, it was a very tedious job, but my fellow companions and I cut every single root.

I am using a tool to remove the extra loose wood from the good and sturdy wood. This was necessary to ensure that only proper wood made up the house's composition.

My friend and I raked leaves for 5 hours. The farmowner wanted us to rake leaves into bags to be used as fertilizer. We collected thousands of leaves as fertilizer

Above, you can see me chopping wood for fires. The wood needs to dry for a year before it is used. It was very fufilling doing an essential job.
